Billing Specialist

Full-Time Position/40 hours per week

Shift Hours M-F, 8AM – 4:30PM

Scheurer Health, a Critical Access rural hospital, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our team in Pigeon, MI. The ideal candidate will have experience as a medical billing clerk and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies
• Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
• Follow up on unpaid claims and denials
• Resolve billing discrepancies and errors
• Communicate with patients and insurance companies regarding billing inquiries
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of medical billing codes and terminology
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and billing software
