We are looking to hire a Dental Assistant / CustomerService Representative for their Dental Clinic to provide clinical,administrative, and staff support for a comprehensive dental servicesoperation.

Schedule: Full-Time | 1.0 FTE

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during dental procedures
  • Prepare, sterilize, and organize dental supplies and equipment in accordance with OSHA and clinic standards
  • Maintain housekeeping records
  • Set up trays for dental procedures
  • Take radiographs as directed by the dentist, when appropriately trained in radiation safety
  • Develop and process dental radiographs according to provider orders
  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining radiation safety procedures and protocols
  • Order and maintain inventory of dental clinic supplies
  • Interact with and process dental clinic patients
  • Perform telephone triage and conduct patient interviews
  • Maintain dental laboratory slips
  • Create and maintain dental records in accordance with established protocols and procedures
  • Assist with monthly reporting and quality improvement activities
  • Ensure smooth patient flow by promptly checking in patients, communicating next steps, and monitoring dental patient flow
  • Verify patient eligibility and assist patients with enrollment in additional programs based on program qualifications
  • Confirm and update patient demographic, insurance, and other required information in the EMR
  • Collect payments and comply with the health center’s cash-handling procedures as outlined by the Finance Department
  • Obtain required patient information, including photo ID, insurance card, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and/or Social Security card
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Lead Dental Assistant

What We Are Looking For

Certifications and Experience

  • Certificate from an accredited dental assisting program, if certified
  • Proof of completion of a board-approved 8-hour infection control course
  • Successful completion of a California Board of Dental Examiners-approved radiation safety course
  • 1–2 years of experience directly related to the position duties and responsibilities
  • Current BLS certification

Additional Skills and Attributes

  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency required
  • Current knowledge of and ability to follow comprehensive dental clinical procedures and protocols
