We're seeking a skilled and student-focused Sign Language Interpreter to support communication and accessibility within a South Carolina school setting. This is an excellent opportunity for an interpreter who is passionate about helping students fully participate in their educational experience and ensuring clear communication across the school community.
The ideal candidate will provide professional sign language interpretation throughout the school day and work alongside educators, students, and other school personnel to promote an inclusive learning environment. The interpreter will serve as an important communication bridge while maintaining professionalism, discretion, and respect for student confidentiality.
Position Overview:
- Follow established professional standards, ethical guidelines, and confidentiality requirements.
- Facilitate student access to classroom instruction, discussions, activities, and other school-related interactions.
- Partner with teachers and school professionals to support an accessible and inclusive educational environment.
- Adapt communication support to meet individual student needs and the demands of different educational settings.
- Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation to support communication between students, teachers, staff, and other individuals.
Requirements
Candidates should have appropriate sign language interpreting credentials and the ability to communicate effectively in an educational environment. School-based interpreting experience is preferred. Applicants should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
