TITLE: Assistant Warehouse Manager    STATUS: Non-exempt               JOB# 5094

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Donated Goods and Salvage Manager                   SUPERVISES: N/A

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Demonstrates Goodwill’s Core Values through actions and behaviors. The Assistant Warehouse Manager follows the Donated Goods and Salvage Manager’s direction in overseeing the daily business operations of the entire warehouse, with a strong focus on fleet management. The Assistant Warehouse Manager is responsible for the management of the company's fleet of vehicles. This includes tasks such as scheduling vehicle maintenance, ordering parts, managing fuel consumption, tracking vehicle use and monitoring driver safety. The Fleet Coordinator also assists in budgeting for and monitoring fleet expenditure and helps to ensure the vehicle fleet meets all safety and operational standards.

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • High School or equivalent required

·         Some experience in fleet management and driving

 

QUALIFICATIONS / SPECIFIC SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE: 

  • Ability to research utilizing computer databases 
  • Ensure continuous warehouse operations
  • Must be able to follow directions
  • Ability to handle the needs of employees in a sensitive and effective manner
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with coworkers and customers
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform their duties
  • Requires ability to maintain privileged and confidential information
  • Great attention to detail
  • Must be able to read and write English effectively
  • Must be able to recognize numbers, add and subtract
  • Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 30 lbs
  • Standing, bending, stooping, twisting and walking required
  • Ability to work varied hours and days as business dictates
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and good driving record required

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Consistently monitor flow of production area and make changes as necessary to ensure donations are sorted and store orders processed (E)
  • Responsible for promptly addressing employee concerns, and communicating situations/resolutions with Manager (E)
  • Responsible for ensuring the warehouse is operating efficiently and employees stay on task to meet or exceed established goals (E)
  • Work with Manager to create and maintain a schedule that provides warehouse coverage. Monitor warehouse coverage and take measures to ensure appropriate staffing
  • Edit and approve time in conjunction with Manager. (E)
  • Work with Manager to hire and train new staff, as well as provide ongoing training. (E)
  • Train and educate staff regarding behavior, productivity and attendance. Inform Manager of issues or potential issues. (E)
  • Enforce and adhere to all company policies, procedures & practices including but not limited to operating procedures, general rules, safety & loss prevention. (E)
  • Process all required documentation and paperwork accurately and timely. (E)
  • Assist Manager to complete competencies and evaluations thoroughly and timely. (E)
  • Create and foster a respectful and inclusive team environment. Communicate appropriately & positively with co-workers & others. (E)
  • Set a positive example and represent Goodwill appropriately. (E)
  • Fleet Management: Oversees the fleet management software system GEO Tab, Fleet helpdesk system, maintain records and ensure compliance with state and organizational regulations and expectations (E)
  • Fleet maintenance: Schedule repairs, obtain prior approval as needs. Perform preventive maintenance (E)
  • Fleet operations: In conjunction with Donated Goods Manager, dispatch drivers, plan schedules, an update routes (E)
  • Fleet procurement: Evaluate purchase requests, select vendors, and negotiate pricing (E)
  • Fleet training: Recommend and coordinate training for fleet personnel (E)
  • Fleet safety: Ensure the fleet is safe and cost-effective (E)
  • Fleet communication: Prepare detailed reports and communicate ideas and proposals verbally and in writing (E)
  • Inspect and evaluate fleet equipment, recommend repair and/or replacement of existing equipment, and maintain records of fleet inventories, assignments, and usage (E)
  • Review and establish fleet maintenance practices and procedures and ensure quality controls are met (E)
  • Ensure vehicles are properly maintained and serviced regularly (E)
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and laws as necessary (E)
  • Make appropriate decisions in a variety of situations including but not limited to altercations, medical emergencies, theft, power failure, inclement weather, etc (E)
  • Physically inspect the fleet with pre and post trips daily (E)
  • Responsible for performing regularly scheduled exterior and interior maintenance and cleaning of fleet (E)
  • Transport trucks to shops for repairs and maintenance as needed (E)
  • Promote a safe work environment (E)
  • In conjunction with Donated Goods Manager follow up on driving exceptions or system notifications (E)
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
