Job Summary:Ā 

Manage the HVACĀ departmentĀ which includes Building Automation, EnergyĀ CenterĀ and HVAC Distribution.Ā Provide a clean,Ā safeĀ and comfortable teaching/learning environment for students,Ā facultyĀ and staff.Ā 

Essential Functions:Ā 

25% Manage Superintendents of HVAC Distribution, BuildingĀ AutomationĀ and the Energy Center.Ā 

20% Develop and perform training for Supervision and skilled trades personnel to meet the changing needs of the department.Ā Manage the hiring of personnel,Ā grievancesĀ and disciplinary action. Develop and implement training and complianceĀ ofĀ all EPA Refrigerant laws and regulations. Develop operating and energy management strategies for campus buildings and systems.Ā 

15% Commission new buildings for system/equipment defects, deficiencies and other problems related to construction.Ā 

15% Coordinate relevant shops for major equipment and system repairs.Ā 

15% Review plans and specs for Capital Planning projects. Develop projects, strategic planning,Ā writeĀ andĀ approveĀ specs forĀ material,Ā installationĀ and electrical.Ā 

10% Review mechanical engineers’ estimates to replace or install new boilers, chillers,Ā RTU'sĀ and air conditioning units. OverseeĀ contractors and ensure contract compliance.Ā

Management of the operation of a unit/major function with activities typically coordinated through administrative personnel aboveĀ the level of first-line supervisors or through persons having mid-to-upper-level management or professional responsibility.Ā

Physical Requirements:Ā 

Light physical effort required involving stooping and bending; individual has limited discretion about walking, standing, etc.;Ā occasionallyĀ lifting ofĀ lightweight objects (up to 25 lbs.).Ā

Working Conditions:Ā 

Routine discomforts from exposure to moderate levels of heat, cold, moisture/wetness,Ā noiseĀ and air pollution. May involveĀ routine/occasional exposure to light chemical substances or hazards (radiation, chemicals, diseases,Ā heightsĀ and moving parts).Ā

Compensation:Ā Final salary compensation will beĀ commensurateĀ with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
