The Quality Inspector is responsible for measuring and monitoring construction quality within their assigned utility-scale Solar or BESS project site. This role involves benchmarking and conducting quality inspections on all definable features of work (DFWs), identifying discrepancies, sharing lessons learned, and driving continuous improvement in installation practices. The Quality Inspector serves as a key liaison between the field, project teams, and corporate, upholding company standards and client expectations. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, values safety as a core deliverable, and is motivated to drive excellence across every phase of a project. Roles and Responsibilities Observe and verify construction work against drawings and standards for conformance (Material Receiving & Handling, Civil, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical and Substation) Provided detailed inspection checklists (ICLs) reports, noting any deficiencies in the installation and complete follow-up inspections to ensure corrective work is done Communicate quality-related information to the Project team Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions Photograph and document all discrepancies and non-conforming work Generate and submit NCRs, as necessary, with detailed findings and recommendations Maintain accurate inspection logs and quality documentation Lead and witness all site inspections within assigned disciplines Coordinate inspections with subcontractors and construction teams Assist the Site Quality Manager/Supervisor with organization, implementation, and maintenance of the site quality management system Collaborate with the Quality Control and Construction teams to resolve issues and implement corrective actions Communicate inspection results and quality trends to the project team, including site managers, superintendents, and subcontractors. Evaluate installation and process quality across all DFWs, including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical scopes Coordinate resolution of discrepancies with construction managers, engineers, subcontractors, and client QC representatives Participate in daily PODs and weekly QC meetings QualificationsQualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a combination of education and equivalent experience 3+ years of experience in BESS and/or Solar construction experience Highly proficient in technical aspects of BESS and Solar utility construction Familiarity with BESS and Solar installation methods and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, ASTM) Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and QA/QC protocols Proficiency in inspection tools, reporting software, and digital documentation Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Procore construction management software OSHA 30 preferred or obtainable within 1 year ASQ CQI Certification preferred Ability to travel frequently and work independently in field environments Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
