Automotive Sales Leader - Americas

 

 

Job Description: 

The Automotive Sales Leader, Americas is a key commercial leadership role responsible for driving results across the regional sales organization. Reporting to the Regional Sales Director, this position leads the automotive sales team and manages strategic automotive customer relationships across the Americas.

 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Automotive sales strategy: Develop and execute the Americas automotive sales strategy, aligned with regional commercial objectives, growth priorities, and profitability targets.
  • Team leadership: Lead, coach, and develop the Americas automotive sales team to deliver sales targets, margin expectations, pipeline growth, and key performance indicators.
  • Strategic customer relationships: Own and grow strategic automotive relationships, including key OEM and Tier accounts, while serving as a senior commercial point of contact for major customer opportunities and escalations.
  • Pipeline and business development: Build and manage a robust pipeline of new and existing automotive business, identifying opportunities to expand market share, increase revenue, and improve account penetration.
  • Customer relationship management: Strengthen customer relationships through disciplined account planning, cross-functional collaboration, and proactive resolution of commercial, technical, supply, or quality concerns.
  • Sales forecasting and reporting: Monitor sales performance, revenue, margin, market share, and pipeline metrics; prepare accurate forecasts, business updates, and management-level presentations.
  • Contract negotiation: Lead regional contract negotiations and improve commercial frameworks that balance customer needs with Delrin® value creation, risk management, and long-term business objectives.
  • Market insight and positioning: Use market insights, industry networks, and competitive intelligence to identify trends, shape product positioning, and guide targeted automotive sales initiatives.

 

 

Ideal Profile: 

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Commercial experience: Minimum of 7 years of sales or business experience in a business-to-business environment.
  • Automotive market knowledge: Automotive plastics market experience, including direct engagement with OEM and Tier 1 customers.
  • Technical knowledge: Strong knowledge of engineering plastics, with the ability to connect material capabilities to customer applications and commercial opportunities.
  • Communication and influence: Excellent English communication skills, with proven ability to influence senior-level internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic execution: Results-oriented leader who is comfortable setting strategy, translating it into actionable plans, and executing with discipline.
  • Tools and sales practices: Proficiency with CRM tools; SFDC experience is advantageous. Familiarity with automotive sales processes, account planning, and opportunity management.
  • People leadership: Experience leading others, aligning teams around clear objectives, and delivering goals through collaboration.
  • Sales excellence: Proven track record of applying sales excellence, disciplined account management, and best practices to deliver sustainable results.
  • Leadership attributes: Self-starter who is highly motivated, independent, and capable of leading with confidence and accountability.
  • Work location and travel: Based in Michigan with the ability to work from a home office and travel as required.
