The Pharmacy Technician – Community PRN supports the high-volume Euclid Avenue outpatient pharmacy at Main Campus, processing approximately 1,100 prescriptions daily. Caregivers rotate through several pharmacy functions, including register operations, prescription preparation, data entry and insurance processing, inventory management, and medication restocking. The role also provides customer service to patients, providers, care teams, EHP, and other partners, offering a fast-paced environment with broad exposure to outpatient pharmacy operations.

This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work a variety of shifts between 6:45am and 8:15pm, including 6:45am to 3:15pm, 8:30am to 5:00pm, 10:00am to 6:30pm, or 11:45am to 8:15pm, based on departmental needs.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the Registered Pharmacist.  
  • Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems.  
  • Fill medications carts daily.  
  • Prepare orders and maintain inventory for the pharmacy department.  
  • Repackage bulk medications.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School Diploma or GED.   
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National HealthCareer Association (NHA)  
  • Registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee
  • Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program  
  • Six months of hospital experience 

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform functions of the job while reaching and stretching, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of job.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
