Baumueller-Nuermont Corp. (BNC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Baumüller Nürnberg GmbH representing the Baumüller Group in North America, is looking for a Certified Baumüller Servo Drives Repair Specialist. It is a leading manufacturer and solutions provider of intelligent drive and automation systems, bringing digital technologies to industrial manufacturing, transportation, and other market segments to maximize sustainability, circularity, efficiency, and performance. 

 

SUMMARY: 

Reporting to the Repair Services Leader, the Certified Baumüller Servo Drives Repair Specialist diagnoses, repairs, tests, and reconditions Baumüller and comparable servo drives, inverters, and motion control electronics for BNC's North American customers, covering the full repair cycle from incoming inspection through component-level rework, firmware/parameter restoration, testing, and documentation.


 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives, inspects, and diagnoses incoming Baumüller and comparable servo drives, inverters, and power supply modules to determine fault codes and repair scope
  • Constructs, maintains, and tests servo drive systems and components in accordance with BNC and OEM repair standards
  • Disassembles drive units and performs component-level repairs, including replacement of power modules (IGBTs), capacitors, control boards, and connectors
  • Uses measuring and diagnostic tools to test, modify, and repair servo drive units, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and drive-specific diagnostic software
  • Performs electrical tests such as insulation resistance, power-stage functional testing, and encoder/feedback signal verification to validate repair quality
  • Restores and verifies drive firmware, parameter sets, and configuration data using Baumüller commissioning tools
  • Ensures systems and components meet established specifications and customer requirements prior to return shipment
  • Documents inspection findings, fault codes, repair actions, and test results for each unit
  • May be required to perform field service duties, including on-site drive diagnostics, installation support, and commissioning
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the servo drive and motion control repair field
  • Other duties as assigned

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position does not have direct reports. 

 

  

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant servo drive or power electronics repair work experience in a similar role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in the testing and repair of power electronic assemblies, control boards, electrical wiring, electronic accessories, computer systems, and electronic components
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills; written and verbal
  • Ability to use a computer (Windows environment), including drive commissioning/parameterization tools
  • Ability to work in a group as well as independently
  • In-depth experience troubleshooting and servicing a variety of production equipment with an emphasis on servo drive and motion control system equipment
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Required:

  • Technical Degree or certifications in fields such as power electronics, industrial controls, PLCs, or electro-mechanical technology desired
  • Working knowledge of servo drive power stages, IGBT modules, DC bus/capacitor banks, control boards, and feedback (encoder/resolver) systems
  • Proficiency with standard electrical and power-electronics test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and load banks
  • Proficiency in the English language

 

Preferred:

  • Certification as a Baumüller Servo Drives Repair Specialist, or willingness to obtain Baumüller factory certification
  • Background or interest in industrial automation, servo drives, motion control, or electro-mechanical products
  • Direct experience with Baumüller b maXX drives, or comparable servo drive and inverter product lines
  • Familiarity with fieldbus and industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, PROFINET, CANopen)
  • Technical aptitude to read and interpret basic specifications and drawings

  • Work Location: Baumueller-Nuermont Corp. offices located at 1075 Windward Ridge Parkway, Suite 100, Alpharetta, GA 30005
  • Role involves regular use of hand tools, power-electronics test equipment, and machinery, along with lifting and handling drive and motor components
  • Occasional travel may be required for field service support, training, trade shows, or customer meetings
