Position: Family Partner in Children’s BH [1282]

Program: Amarillo, Texas – Children’s Behavioral Health

Salary: $15.66/hr.

Shift available: Full-time

As a non-profit, TPC provides a wide range of services from mental health and substance use support to intellectual and developmental disability care, empowering clients of all ages to achieve dignity and independence. With seven service centers located throughout the region, our staff work together with our clients to achieve our mission to create an accessible system of care that supports individual choice and truly make a difference. Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
  • The Family Partner acts as a peer advocate to support, advocate and act as link to community resources to other parents enrolled in TPC
  • Travel is required to visit regional locations to provide Family Partner services when needed
  • The Family Partner will assist in coordinating a monthly support group for families with mental health issues and teach parenting related classes
  • Must be very knowledgeable about local resources, services, and supports available to families living throughout the Texas Panhandle
  • Family Partner Certification will need to be completed within first year of employment
  • Flexible hours are required
  • Adheres to TPC Business Code of Conduct and reports concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised

Required qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work; or minimum of eighth grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE)
  • Parent or Care Giver of a child (under 18 years of age) diagnosed with a behavioral or emotional disturbance that has successfully navigated support systems for at least one year

  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy  
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • Bilingual
  • Experience teaching parenting classes or support groups
