Rapid growth of the aerospace industry has caused greater demand of flight qualified hardware that builds upon heritage flight requirements. In order to support these demands, Stellar’s processes are continually evolving to offer advanced solutions for design and manufacturing of next generation flight sensors. Product quality and functional performance of these sensors are critical to the success of manned space flight missions requiring continuous improvement in all aspects of manufacturing and test.

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for running and maintaining the process as well as seeking to continually improve the process; continually finding ways to improve quality and efficiency, both of which lead to a better product and reductions in the cost of producing the product.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to independently identify, plan, and manage projects to improve and expand upon Production, Design, and Manufacturing processes. This can include oversight of cross functional team members, implementation of new equipment, introduction of new manufacturing processes, and other duties as necessary to support the project initiative.
  • Maintains oversight of Production process efficiency with the goal of increasing capacity through process improvement. Provides guidance to Assembly and Test Technicians on approved manufacturing methods.
  • Oversees production manufacturing processes and identifies optimization opportunities for product manufacturing technologies across the Company’s portfolio. Utilize industry standard techniques to evaluate workflow accuracy, product quality, and compliance to program requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison between Engineering and Production to ensure production processes satisfy current demand and support future growth.
  • Responsible for process qualification including any compilation of data or evidence used to justify the introduction of new processes or the revision of current methodologies. Support the NPI efforts for new manufacturing technologies and their development into Stellar’s standard processes.
  • Generates any necessary engineering documentation to communicate manufacturing, design, and related information to internal and external parties.
  • Determines and reviews the Production requirements to support manufacturing and program capacity within all areas of the organization.
  • Reviews and identifies operational risks (including all Production equipment) and single point failures, present improvement opportunities to management. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment to reduce impacts to the production schedule. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of Engineering experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with sensing technologies with hands on experience in their implementation and usage. 
  • Ability to lead and navigate projects related to manufacturing and process improvements.
  • Proficient in effective communication (verbal and written) with internal and external parties.
  • Ability to generate end-to-end documentation required for product launch (internal, external, regulatory, and other third-party certification bodies).
  • Background in electrical and mechanical design theory.
