Job Title: Deburr & Finishing Operators

Department: Manufacturing 

Reports To: Production Supervisor 

Location: Anaheim, CA 

Effective/Revision Date: 8/2026 


Role Purpose

The Deburr & Finishing operates automated, semi-automated, and manual equipment to remove burrs, create countersinks, produce line-grain finishes, fill and sand, baking, tap holes, stamp metal parts, and tumble or sandblast components according to customer specifications, engineering blueprints, and company workmanship standards.


Scope & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Review work orders to ensure all prior processes have been completed and properly signed off. 
  • Select the proper equipment and tooling according to work order specifications. 
  • Deburr and hand-finish parts using established procedures, machines, and tooling. 
  • Smooth edges and finish metal parts according to specifications. 
  • Fill and Sand – Including baking process to ensure compliant products.
  • Produce a first article part and submit it to the supervisor for approval. 
  • Inspect finished parts for conformance to design and build requirements listed in documentation. 
  • Work independently while maintaining a consistent and efficient pace. 
  • Produce a final part and submit it to the supervisor for approval. 
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas. 
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping and job records in the computer database. 
  • Notify the supervisor if tools, equipment, or safety gear are damaged or inoperable. 
  • Follow all safety rules and report any safety concerns immediately. 
  • Use a variety of deburring and hand-finishing tools, including electric and pneumatic tools such as right-angle grinders, orbital sanders, and hand tools. 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and process documentation. 
  • Perform inspection of precision parts throughout the production process. 
  • Perform rework assignments as required. 
  • Ensure all parts paperwork and documentation are completed accurately. 
  • Enter production data as required. 
  • Inspect finished work to ensure compliance with required specifications. 
  • Stand for extended periods during the work shift. 


Work Experience & Skills

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Vocational or technical training in manufacturing or metal finishing preferred. 


Experience

  • Minimum 6 months of deburring or metal-finishing experience preferred. 
  • 3+ years of experience manufacturing components in the aerospace industry is highly desirable. 

 

Skills / Knowledge

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, blueprints, and work instructions. 
  • Ability to use standard machine shop tools and measuring devices. 
  • Basic math skills. 
  • Familiarity with sheet metal finishing processes. 
  • Ability to learn from written documentation and hands-on training. 
  • Ability to load and unload machines after receiving proper instruction. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; English proficiency required. 
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements. 
  • Ability to work overtime as required. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials. 
  • Ability to interact effectively with supervisors, management, and customer representatives.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed primarily on a manufacturing floor. 
  • Requires standing, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements throughout the shift. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds regularly. 
  • Must be able to work in varying temperatures and manufacturing conditions. 
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear. 
  • Manual dexterity and steady hand coordination are essential for precision deburring and finishing work.
