What You Will Do:

As an Assistant Controller, you will play an essential role within our Accounting department, reporting to the VP Finance. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage ongoing gas accounting functions, including the performance of high-level calculations and analysis and recording of costs to the general ledger.
  • Provide support for the filing of GCA and rate cases.
  • Manage and assist in preparing income tax provisions and schedules. Work with TriSummit Utilities (TSU) income tax consultant when needed.
  • Prepare financial reports for internal use and TSU.
  • Prepare account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting. Work with staff to research and correct any reconciliation items.
  • Work with internal and external auditors to provide information and answer questions. Review results of audits and make recommendations regarding implementation of changes.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining internal controls. Ensure ENSTAR's internal control procedures and financial processes are followed. Periodically review internal controls and financial processes for improvement.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
  • Serve as key resource for technical accounting research. Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible work experience.
  • Certified Public Accounting (CPA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Experience preparing financial reports in accordance with GAAP.

Preferred skills and qualifications:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
  • Collaborative and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good working knowledge of various personal computer business software applications presently used by ENSTAR. Ability to learn new systems or software packages as necessary.
