Job Description

We are seeking an Operator for our Wastewater treatment plant; in this role you will be responsible for properly and efficiently operating the wastewater treatment facility and associated hazardous and non-hazardous areas in accordance with all applicable permits.

This position reports to the Environmental Compliance Supervisor and will be based out of our Anoka, MN office.

Shift: (Q) 7pm-7am Friday, Saturday, Sunday and every other Thursday plus overtime as needed

What you’ll do:

  • Operate wastewater treatment plant through analytical testing, observing indicators and making necessary adjustments to chemical additives and flow rates.

  • Perform other Environmental Department cross functions (Compliance and Waste Handling) and activities as Directed by EHS Supervisor/Manager. 

  • Responsible for discharge compliance using analytical equipment and standard operating procedures.

  • Properly manage the generation, handling, and storage of all hazardous and non-hazardous waste in the wastewater treatment plant and recycling area.

  • Responsible for maintaining the daily operational log for the wastewater treatment facility and all required testing and records.

  • Schedule and/or perform preventive maintenance repair to all equipment associated with the wastewater treatment facility.

  • Maintain an adequate inventory of treatment chemicals, spare parts, and spare equipment.

  • Maintain equipment in wastewater treatment area in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Observe all applicable safety rules and report unsafe conditions or potential safety hazard

Experience you bring:

  • Demonstrated ability in a variety of maintenance areas

  • Ability to obtain HAZWOPER 24 hour certification

  • Proficient in computer usage Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Chemistry/Plating, water, or wastewater treatment experience

  • Self-starter with ability to work effectively under minimal supervision

  • Ability to work a flexible work week

You might have:

  • 2 year post-secondary degree

  • Applicable education, such as Water Environmental Technologies, Environmental Sciences, or other related fields

  • Water or wastewater licenses issued by the Department of Health

  • Applicable knowledge that would relate to a wastewater treatment process

  • Laboratory experience as a technician or service tech

  • Chemistry background in employment or education

Work Environment:

Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.

Pay Range:

$34.59 - $38.58

The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
