POSITION TITLE: Human Resource Generalist

DEPARTMENT: Human Resource

EMPLOYEE REPORTS TO: CAO

SUPERVISES: N/A

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time


DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

This job description is a record of the essential functions of the listed job. POPULATION SERVED

The position involves no direct patient care for a population of patients ages 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise are not required.  


POSITION SUMMARY

Provides employee and labor relations services to employees and management. May be assigned specialty areas such as workers compensation, immigration or related service

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred. Two to five years' experience working in employee and or labor relations with emphasis on generalist functions preferred. Excellent communication skills and effective interpersonal skills. Attention to detail, thoroughness and dealing with complexity.  


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as a resource for employees and managers regarding human resource policies and procedures.
  • Assist employees with enrollment and termination of benefits and forwards payroll information to the Payroll Department.
  • Counsels and helps employees with benefits.
  • Initiate and recommend plans for employee recreational and recognition activities. Maintains computerized records of service longevity and organizes and coordinates award ceremonies.
  • Initiates and maintains the flow of employee personnel action forms for changes in employee status and inputs into the correct computer programs.
  • Assures that company employment, labor relations and equal opportunity policies and practices comply with the applicable provision of federal and state laws.
  • Assist in the research, planning, developing and implementing of new policies and procedures.
  • Assist managers in identifying options, articulating advantages/disadvantages and/or risks of each and facilitating a sound decision.
  • Provides advice and consults with managers on proper documentation and legal requirements for disciplinary action, evaluation and termination process.
  • Provides confidential administrative/secretarial support to the CAO.
  • Maintains confidential files.   
  • Prepares initial records for newly hired employees and assists with processing of new employees i.e., filling out all forms and verification of employment references. Takes photos for identification badges and completes badge.  
  • Updates employee records for changes to employee master record, including address, name, phone, title and shift.
  • Processes employee terminations, pulling all information and filing in appropriate place.
  • Maintains information regarding outside activities (i.e., amusement parks, etc.).  
  • Keep up with current employment rules and regulations.  
  • Create and process employment ads.  
  • Administer of employee group insurance benefits
