Position Summary

Supervises, coordinates and directs safe, quality production.  Assures a safe working environment for all employees.   Directs effective and safe use of equipment in the manufacture of product.  Motivates subordinates to work together and to maintain a high level of productivity.  Determines and implements improvements in Plant manufacturing processes.   Accountable primarily for enameling and drawing with additional responsibility for finishing, maintenance, and security.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Safety
  • Provides leadership to ensure a work environment that is safe and free from hazards and unsafe behaviors.  Assures that safety items are responded to in a timely manner. Assures that general safe work practices and specific safe work instructions are followed within the area of responsibility. 
  • Conducts safety and housekeeping audits and actively audits for safe behaviors.  
  • Acts as the primary Incident Commander for all plant emergency response situations.  
  1. Production
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring all steps of the process; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Recommends changes in size of workforce.  
  • Participates in plant projects to help achieve plant objectives and goals.
  • Accountable for all plant operations to include security on off shifts and weekends.  
  1. Quality
  • Assures that products are manufactured to quality specifications.  
  • Assures quality issues are resolved in a timely manner.   Utilizes systematic problem solving methods to determine root causes of problems.
  1. Development of human resources
  • Leads efforts to create a culture that is customer-focused, team-based and driven by continuous improvement. 
  • Supervises and directs the work of hourly production employees plant-wide on the shift.
  • Develops personal growth opportunities and facilitates on the job training for employees. 
  • Sets expectations for safety, quality, production and conduct and monitors.
  • Coaches, counsels and issues correction actions to employees; initiates, coordinates and enforces systems, policies and procedures.   Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions and recommending action.   Administers Company policies and plant rules fairly and consistently. 
  • Maintains a high level of employee moral and employee participation.
  • Administers Plant or department policy in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Participates in selection and termination of hourly employees.
  1. All other duties as assigned.

  

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or related field or equivalent amount of previous relevant experience.  
  • Five (5) years production supervision experience.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook)
  • Ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Ability to work with all levels of people in achievement of plant objectives.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
