Get to Know Your Team: 

  • UT Health Athens is a 127-bed facility, including a 24-hour ED, designated as a Level IV trauma center and Level IV stroke center; advanced diagnostic technology; 10-bed ICU; maternity unit radiation therapy center; and a stand-alone ED in Gun Barrel City.

Responsibilities

  • The Radiation Therapist Delivers radiation therapy treatments to cancer patients as prescribed by the physician and directed by the physics department.
  • Perform manual calculations.
  • Fabricate custom shielding blocks.
  • Perform Q.A. checks and warm-up Linear Accelerators.
  • Maintain constant communication with patients and family members to lend support and provide information concerning treatment.
  • Responsible for supervising all phases of student clinical rotations. 

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved school of radiation therapy technology or a school of radiologic technology and a one year radiation therapy program.
  • Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiation Therapy and licensed by the State of Texas.
