Rigaku Innovative Technologies. (RIT), a Division of Rigaku Americas Holding, a global supplier of innovative analytical instruments for cutting-edge applications in biotechnology, is hiring for a Deposition Manufacturing Specialist to assist with product support and equipment maintenance.

Duties include the following:

· Prepare substrates and operate vacuum chambers which apply thin film coatings through physical vapor deposition

· Be responsible for learning & operating thin film vacuum deposition tools, X-ray metrology equipment and high temperature annealing process equipment

· Loading, setting controls, monitoring and loading substrates into and out of vacuum chambers

· Troubleshooting & repairing deposition equipment

· Designing and making basic fixtures and jigs to hold optics and parts.

· Follow Production process and procedures with attention to detail in when

o Cleaning, inspecting and loading substrates into vacuum chambers

o Coating of multi-layer films and anti-reflective coatings

o Coating of advanced, large lithography optics

· Operate computer-controlled mechanical systems and equipment

· Verify thin film deposition and other process results with measurement equipment

· Perform maintenance of chambers including disassembly, sand blasting, cleaning, and reassembly

· Perform routine cleaning/maintenance and refurbishment of process tools

· Conduct process troubleshooting for identifying tool issues; perform as much of repair as possible given existing equipment, parts and supplies. Report problems and outcomes to the supervisor, both when a problem is identified and after repairs are completed

· Prepare daily process reports

· Work with deposition engineers and scientists to initiate, plan and execute:

o System and subsystem upgrades

o Process analysis and improvements

o Planned maintenance beyond routine

o Specification and planning of new deposition systems

· Lead small teams of deposition technicians

· Work with Deposition Equipment Manager and Facility Manager (et. al.) for installation of new deposition systems

Required Skills:

· Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

· Ability to read blueprints and specifications for finished product

· Good communication and interpersonal skills

· Knowledge of Windows and PC-based control/measurement software

· Ability to learn new equipment and processes quickly

Prior Experience:

· 8+ years working with vacuum chambers

· 10+ years operating computer controlled evaporation and/or sputtering deposition equipment

· Experience with installation of deposition systems

· Knowledge of various thin film deposition techniques, including reactive sputtering & ion milling

· Familiarity with micrometers, calipers and other measurement equipment

· Prior experience using PC-based control or measurement software systems

· Basic understanding of X-ray metrology techniques for thin films

General Requirements:

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Must currently be legally authorized to work in the USA

Physical Requirements:

· Excellent vision

· Ability to lift 35 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally

· Ability to climb ladders

· Ability to enter product parameters into PC based control systems

· Ability to stand while performing duties and monitoring chambers – up to 75% of the time

· Ability to use/wear required PPE

Education:

· High School Diploma or GED acceptable

· Bachelor's degree in technical area preferred
