Position Summary: 
The Field Service Manager (FSM) leads a team of Field Service Supervisors across a defined territory ensuring field service performance, customer satisfaction, safety, and environmental compliance, for all field service operations. The FSM plays a critical role in aligning field operations with branch and district leadership, coordinating resources across multiple service zones, and embedding consistency in service delivery standards. This role requires strong leadership, financial acumen, and the ability to influence across both local branch structures and corporate field operations strategies. 
 
Major Responsibilities:  
Operational Leadership: 
• Lead field service operations across a defined territory that exemplifies Penske’s quality maintenance standards.  
• Ensure consistent service delivery standards, performance metrics, and profitability across field service teams. 
• Partner with District Service Managers and Branch Managers to align branch and field maintenance operations for seamless customer experience. 
• Monitor operational performance trends (uptime, response times, cost-to-serve) and implement improvement initiatives on a scale. 
• Manage district-level labor, parts, and equipment budgets for field service, balance cost control with customer service expectations. 
People Leadership & Development: 
• Lead, coach, and develop Field Service Supervisors, ensuring strong pipelines of future leaders and strengthening retention.  
• Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
• Support hiring, onboarding, and training of supervisors and technicians, ensuring career paths for high-potential associates in field service. 
Promote a Culture of Safety & Compliance: 
• Ensure field operations adhere to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety standards; monitor district-wide compliance through audits and reviews. 
• Lead safety initiatives, embedding safe work practices and reinforcing compliance with policies across all field service activities. 
Customer Relationship Management: 
• Serve as the escalation point for major customer issues related to field service; partner with sales, rental, and district leadership to resolve systemic issues. 
• Participate in strategic customer reviews, highlighting field service performance, identifying risks, and recommending solutions. 
• Build strong relationships with key district and area leaders to align mobile maintenance priorities with overall business objectives. 
• Other duties and tasks as required by supervisor 

Qualifications

Qualifications: 
• High School Diploma or equivalent required 
• Associates or Tech School degree preferred
• 5+ years fleet maintenance management experience preferred, or at least 3 years of team management in an environment with strong operational metrics. 
• Ability and desire to work in a positive, fast-paced, and high-energy environment 
• Willingness to travel daily between assigned locations and working beside field service technicians on a daily and ongoing basis within a specific territory.   
• Willingness and ability to have a flexible work schedule to meet the hour of operation needs.  
• Strong customer service and organizational skills required 
• Valid Driver’s License required 
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and web-based applications preferred 
• The associate will be required to understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management 
• The willingness to perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies; including but not limited to the correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practice. 
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job. 
• Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required. 
 
This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. Associates must have the ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others.

• While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be required to move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended length of time throughout their scheduled working period.  
• The associate is required to use their hands on a routine and daily basis to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, and/or otherwise operate required tools or controls.  
• The associate must be able to work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated working platforms. 
• The associate must be able to safely work in all weather conditions. 
• Given the frequent movement of large trucks through the workplace, the associate must be able to see and hear in order to safely navigate the work environment. 
• The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
