Job Summary

The Controller manages the financial operations and centralized accounting functions for our six premium dealerships in Austin, representing Porsche, Audi, Infiniti, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Alphe Romeo, Lotus, and Maserati. This high-level position requires a meticulous financial leader with deep automotive retail expertise who can manage complex manufacturer requirements, navigate the high-asset values of luxury inventory, and lead a high-performing accounting team.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Consolidated Reporting: Direct monthly and annual financial close processes for all 6 luxury rooftops, delivering consolidated statements to ownership.
  • Luxury OEM Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to individual factory accounting manuals and submission deadlines across all brands (e.g., Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Aston Martin).
  • High-Line Floor Plan Optimization: Oversee high-dollar floor plan lines, ensuring rapid equity management, proper processing of factory incentives, and optimal cash flow.
  • Exotic & Luxury Tax Strategy: Manage complex tax regulations inherent to high-end automotive retail, including luxury vehicle taxes, out-of-state registrations, and high-value vehicle inventory tax (VIT).

 

Multi-Store Operational Oversight

  • Centralized Systems Integration: Maintain standard operational controls across all locations, driving efficiency through our Dealership Management System (DMS).
  • Inventory Control: Implement strict physical and digital controls for ultra-luxury new, pre-owned, and exotic vehicle inventories, as well as specialized parts operations.
  • Performance Analysis: Provide the executive team with precise Daily Operating Controls (DOCs), analyzing high-line specific metrics like gross profit per unit and exotic trade-in values.


Leadership & Local Collaboration

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a centralized accounting office based in Austin, including accounts payable, billing, and title clerks.
  • Executive Partnership: Partner directly with General Managers to audit operational expenses, evaluate departmental profitability, and forecast local market trends.

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience - 5+ years of progressive automotive dealership accounting experience; luxury or exotic multi-store oversight is highly preferred.
  • Location - Must be based in, or willing to relocate to, the Austin, TX metropolitan area.
  • DMS Expertise - Advanced proficiency in top-tier Dealership Management Systems (DMS) (e.g., CDK Global, Reynolds & Reynolds).
  • Specialized Skills - Proven success managing multi-million dollar floor plans and complex inter-company reconciliations.
  • Education - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential is an asset.
