Here's The Role

LCRA is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Intern passionate about power systems to join our Transmission Operations team!

 

This is a chance to acquire hands-on experience in a real-time operations environment with a team committed to achieving excellence in power systems. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and gain practical exposure to the challenges of operating and planning our modern electric grid.

 

If you are ambitious and keen to learn, this is an ideal place to begin your journey in electrical engineering. As an intern, you would be able to immediately contribute by optimizing code, running power flow studies, and provide fresh ideas that enhance the lives of Texans!


How You’ll Contribute

  • Perform a variety of progressively responsible engineering assignments involving electrical engineering and power system principles, under the limited supervision of a licensed professional engineer.
  • Contribute to various types of power flow analyses that support the safe and reliable operation of the transmission grid.
  • Acquire practical exposure to industry tools like PSSE, PowerWorld, and Energy Management Systems.
  • Support outage planning and system reliability assessments for major transmission projects.
  • Receive mentorship from engineers with a breadth of knowledge in Operations, Planning, Development, and Construction.

How You’re Qualified

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university/college program in junior year or has completed junior year and will be starting senior year.

How You’ll Stand Out

  • Completed coursework in Power Systems or Power System Operation and Control is a plus!
  • Actively working toward EIT certification.
