We are seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive bids for commercial interior construction projects involving drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, and commercial flooring. This role is responsible for managing the estimating process from bid invitation through project handoff by reviewing construction documents, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, and developing comprehensive cost proposals.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial interior construction estimating, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple bids in a fast-paced environment. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers, field teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to develop accurate pricing and support successful project execution.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceiling, and commercial flooring projects.
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents to determine project scope and pricing requirements.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, project risks, and value engineering opportunities.
- Prepare bid proposals, clarifications, scope summaries, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, field personnel, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients throughout the estimating process.
- Maintain estimating databases, historical pricing, bid records, and project documentation.
- Support project turnover by providing detailed estimate breakdowns, scope reviews, and pricing assumptions to operations teams.
- Participate in post-bid reviews and recommend process improvements to enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist with budget development, conceptual pricing, and negotiated project opportunities as needed.
- 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, or related interior construction trades.
- Commercial interior construction estimating experience is required.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and interior building systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
- Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and preparing complete bid proposals.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- High school diploma or GED required; a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
