About us

The world is electrifying. As we plug in more devices and services, we need new ways to connect to power.

The traditional, one-size-fits-all utility approach — with complicated bills and frustrating customer service — no longer works. At Light, we make it easy to get affordable, renewable electricity by embedding power with the products that consumers already use, from the companies they love.

Light’s mission is to power a sustainable and abundant energy future for everyone. With Light's utility-as-API platform, companies from automakers and solar providers to real estate and beyond can offer their own, integrated electricity plans.

Imagine purchasing an electric vehicle that includes unlimited home charging, or solar panels that come bundled with any excess energy you might need from the grid. At Light, we're creating a flexible future where any company can offer their own branded electricity plans and make clean energy convenient for their customers.

Join us in building the digital energy infrastructure for a dynamic, sustainable future.

The role

Your mission is to generate the pipeline that the rest of Light's go-to-market team runs on.

You'll work alongside our founding SDR and directly with the founders and early sales team to build how Light finds and engages new partners. You'll research target verticals, build the account lists, identify the people inside those companies who own a partnership decision, and run the outbound that turns a cold company into a first meeting.

This is not a typical outbound motion. You're not asking a company to spend budget, you're showing them how to offer electricity to customers they already have and earn revenue doing it. Many of the people you contact will not have considered electricity part of their business before, which makes the quality of your targeting and your writing matter far more than the volume behind it.

You'll partner closely with sellers, Marketing, and the founders to sharpen what we say to each vertical and who we say it to, and you'll help build the motion itself by turning what works into personas, messaging, and sequences the rest of the team can run.

This is an early seat on a growing GTM team, with direct exposure to founders and sellers who are still closing deals themselves, and a clear path into a closing role for the person who helps build the engine.

In your first six months, you will:

  • Own outbound into a set of target accounts. Research the vertical, build the account list with the reasoning behind it, and run outreach across email, LinkedIn, and phone.

  • Reach the people who own the decision. Identify the stakeholders inside a prospective partner who actually own a partnership like this, which is rarely the first title that matches.

  • Book meetings the team can run with. Qualify opportunities and hand them over with the context a seller needs to be effective in the first conversation.

  • Bring discipline to inbound. Define what has to be true before an inbound request becomes a meeting, and hold that line.

  • Own your numbers. Track your funnel step by step, know which step is the constraint each month, and adjust the approach rather than the volume.

  • Help create Light's outbound playbook. Turn what works into personas by vertical, messaging, and sequence structure that the next person can run.

You would describe yourself as:

  • A high-performing SDR or BDR with a track record of carrying a meetings or pipeline number and hitting it.

  • Persistent and resourceful, with the creativity to reach people who are hard to reach and the discipline to keep going after the obvious channels stop working.

  • A strong writer who has built their own outreach rather than running someone else's sequences, and who can explain the reasoning behind what they send.

  • Analytical about your own funnel, able to diagnose which step is underperforming and change something deliberately in response.

  • Comfortable in front of senior people, able to hold a credible conversation with someone more experienced and better informed than you.

  • Genuinely curious about the product and the market, more interested in how a partner makes money than in memorizing a pitch.

  • Fluent with modern sales tooling and AI, using it to create leverage while knowing where its output is not good enough to send.

  • Early in your career and based in Austin, with 1+ years of SDR or BDR experience and the ability to work five days per week in-office.
