What You Will Do

Highly skilled mechanic who safely perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair of light duty vehicles and equipment which may include quarter to one-ton pickup trucks, skid steers, forklifts, boom trucks, lube trucks or other light duty equipment.

Perform diagnostic, replacement and repairs on, but not limited to, engines, transmissions and transaxles, manual drive train and axles, suspension, steering, brakes, clutches, AC units and electric motors.
Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed. As the Diagnostic Mechanic
Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance to include oil and lube service, coolant system flush, transmission services, filter and gasket checks, and checking of water pumps, thermostats, belts, radiator hoses and clutch fans.
Train and mentor other employees.
Perform welding such as carbon arc and MIG.
May operate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and small mobile equipment.
Act as a Fill-in Supervisor as needed.
Be responsible for maintaining work orders, a clean and safe work area, and performing work area inspections.
Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

Two (2) years experience in light duty mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.
Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures and applicable safety standards
Knowledge of general to advanced electrical
Ability to read schematics

Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
ASE certifications
Knowledge and ability to use various computer aided diagnostic tools

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $27.00 - $36.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
