Description

Under the direction of the Lead Medical Assistant, and Director of Behavioral Health, the Behavioral Health Medical Assistant is responsible for all duties related to medical assisting including but not limited to; assisting behavioral health providers, taking patient vitals, injections, record keeping, performing basic medical procedures, scheduling appointments including telehealth and coordinating virtual meetings, and assisting with medical office tasks such as filing, faxing, data entry and phones. Must be flexible due to demands of an innovative field. Also, will be responsible for any other special assignments or tasks as requested by administration. A Behavioral Health Medical Assistant will also help to drive outcomes and clinic goals with a focus on quality and patient care. Must demonstrate proper de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques, confidentiality, HIPPA, and keep professional boundaries. 

Requirements


  • Screen potential and existing patients, by telephone and in person, to help determine appropriate needs for patients.
  • Schedule patient appointments.
  • Properly check patients in for appointments
  • May verify insurance and demographic information at each visit.
  • May collect co-payments, coinsurance, deductibles, and patient balances at each visit.
  • Prepare charts for appointments.
  • Copy, scan and mail documents, forms, and charts, as needed.
  • Update patient charts by inserting medical records and/or other documentation related to their care.
  • Answer phones; take and relay messages; refer callers to other departments as needed.
  • Attend and participate in all staff and front office meetings
  • must be a Certified Translator
