Overview

BerryDunn is seeking a Tax Processing Specialist to join our dynamic ATAT Services Support Team. This position provides critical operational support to the firm’s tax service teams serving a broad range of industries. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and client service skills, and demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, due date-driven environment. Success in this role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and consistently deliver high-quality work. A commitment to continuous technical and professional development, collaboration, and process improvement is essential. Prior tax processing and/or preparation experience is preferred.

 

The Tax Processing Specialist must be able to effectively prioritize work, manage multiple competing deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, due date-driven environment. This is an in-office position based in either our Portland or Bangor, Maine office.

 

This role reports directly to the Tax Operations Manager.

You Will

  • Print, assemble, and electronically deliver various types of tax returns, including corporate, partnership, individual, trust, estate, and exempt organization filings. Prepare paper filings for mailing and assemble returns for delivery through client portals, secure file-sharing platforms, and email.
  • Perform quality reviews of tax returns and related deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with firm standards. Coordinate timely distribution of finalized deliverables while providing professional service to clients and internal teams.
  • Communicate directly with clients, colleagues, and management regarding tax return processing, deliverables, and related matters.
  • Monitor, prioritize, and manage client deliverables, workflow tasks, and filing deadlines within a fast-paced, due date-driven environment.
  • Ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule while proactively following up on outstanding items to meet established deadlines.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork by actively contributing to a collaborative work environment, understanding both individual and team responsibilities, building positive working relationships, and seeking guidance, clarification, and feedback as needed.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and workload demands, particularly during peak tax seasons and critical filing deadlines.

You Have

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Prior tax processing or preparation experience preferred
  • Adaptability in learning new software and willingness to adapt to new processes in an ever-changing environment.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, due date-driven environment.
  • Discretion in managing confidential and sensitive information.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and proactively follow up with stakeholders as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Demonstrated experience using the CCH Axcess Platform, including Tax, Document, Workflow, Engagement, and related applications, is preferred.

Compensation Details

The hourly rate for this role is $28.00-$32.00 per hour. This rate range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final rate may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The hourly rate for the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
