Production & Fulfillment Specialist

Summary

The Production & Fulfillment Specialist plays a vital role in producing, handling, and fulfilling Buff City Soap products. This hands-on position is responsible for manufacturing high-quality products, preparing orders for shipment, and managing inventory movement.

Working as part of the Fulfillment Center team, this role supports the entire product lifecycle from inbound materials to finished customer orders. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, safety-focused, self-managing and thrives in a fast-paced environment where quality, efficiency, and teamwork are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Production Operations

  • Produce Buff City Soap products according to established recipes, quality standards, and production schedules.
  • Follow production procedures to ensure consistency in appearance, scent, texture, performance, and overall quality.
  • Safely operate and use production equipment, tools and materials while meeting productivity expectations.
  • Conduct quality checks throughout the production process and communicate issues that could impact output or product quality.
  • Maintain accurate production records, batch documentation, and ingredient usage logs.

Receiving & Materials Management

  • Receive inbound shipments of raw materials, packaging, and supplies.
  • Verify deliveries against purchase orders and report discrepancies.
  • Inspect incoming materials for damage, contamination, or quality concerns.
  • Use pallet jacks and material-handling equipment safely to move inventory throughout the facility.
  • Store and organize materials according to FIFO and inventory management standards.

Order Fulfillment & Shipping

  • Accurately pick, pack, and prepare customer, wholesale, and marketplace orders.
  • Verify product quantities, packaging requirements, and order accuracy.
  • Maintain company packaging and presentation standards.
  • Stage orders for carrier pickup and support daily shipping deadlines.

Inventory Control

  • Replenish production and fulfillment workstations as needed.
  • Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and stock organization when necessary
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and communicate inventory concerns promptly.
  • Support material movement between receiving, storage, production, and fulfillment areas.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures, SOPs, GMPs, and facility requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized workspaces throughout production, inventory, and fulfillment areas.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Properly manage waste, recycling, and housekeeping activities.

Team Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Production, Inventory, Purchasing, Fulfillment, and Operations teams.
  • Support changing business priorities and seasonal volume fluctuations.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative culture focused on quality and customer satisfaction. 

Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience in manufacturing, production, fulfillment, warehouse, inventory, or similar operational environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized processes consistently.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely move materials.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in handmade consumer products, cosmetics, food production, or similar manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with inventory systems and cycle counting
  • Experience following production recipes, batching processes, or quality standards.
  • Experience with shipping, receiving, and inventory control procedures.

  • Production output meets quality and schedule requirements.
  • Order fulfillment accuracy of 99.5%+.
  • Timely and accurate receiving of materials.
  • Inventory accuracy and minimal discrepancies.
  • Safe operation with zero preventable safety incidents.
  • Clean, organized work areas maintained consistently. 

Reporting Structure

Reports To: Fulfillment Center Senior Assistant Manager

Team member will flex between production, receiving, inventory, and fulfillment based on daily workload.
