Essential Functions:

 

Responsible for providing/maintaining an updated library resource program for both staff and students, following the established library curriculum and behavior management program in the education of Mooseheart youth. Work with the public library system (R.A.I.L.S) to help provide the campus with reading resources. Assist teachers and students with electronic resources and cloud-based products.

 

Specific Duties:

 

  • Utilizes appropriate and acceptable Instructional Techniques and curriculum.

 

  • Prepares long-range plans, develops well defined objectives students and works consistently toward them.

 

  • Regularly monitors pupil progress and adjusts the pace accordingly.

 

  • Provides additional out of class time for students who are making unsatisfactory progress in order to facilitate their success.

 

  • Responds to disciplinary problems in a manner consistent with the Mooseheart Model of Care.

 

  • Sets a positive example of and encourages socially acceptable behavior by such means as dress, correct usage of speech and manner.

 

  • Attends professional growth-oriented training programs to stays abreast of current educational / teaching principles, techniques and practices

 

  • Any other duties and special projects assigned by the Supt. of Education, Assistant Principal or the Executive Director of Mooseheart Operations.

 

  • Oversee the 1-to-1 computer program.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities to Perform the Job:

 

  • College degree in applicable field (Master's in library science preferred, but not required). Having a strength in technology area is helpful.

 

  • Meet the licensing and registration requirements of the State of Illinois in regards to teacher's certification - maintain certification

 

  • Minimum of 21 years of age

 

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

 

  • Prefer some experience in Behavior Management.

 

  • Some previous youth supervisory experience is preferred

 

  • Must pass thorough background investigation - must be cleared by the Dept

of Children and Family Services via fingerprinting.
