We are looking for a Training Specialist to join our team. As a core member of the Training and Development Committee, the Training Specialist plays an integral role in the training and development of our Team Members. You are ultimately responsible for the overall success of our technical training for our production team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety is the plant's primary focus. Promotes and practices safety awareness and proper equipment use. Run tailgate meetings
  • Model the Corporate Values and Principles
  • Drive consistent quality & delivery reliability as measured by KPIs through managing an effective training program
  • Design, build, and continuously improve a scalable training approach that enables mass-training of operators at pace, without compromising training quality or significantly impacting current production output
  • Drive a fast, structured ramp-up to full productivity for newly trained operators, balancing speed of onboarding with sustained quality and safety standards
  • Leverage modern training tools and technology, including video-based training, e-learning, and digital skills tracking, to make training more efficient, consistent, and easy to scale across shifts and sites
  • Build strong working relationships with equipment and technology partners (e.g., Heidelberg) to develop and continuously improve training content, ensuring training methods reflect best practice and the most efficient use of equipment
  • Ensure the training approach can be rapidly scaled up or down in response to changing headcount, seasonal demand, or new equipment/line rollouts
  • Coordinate and communicate with all production Managers/Supervisors and HR on training and development weekly priorities
  • Work closely with the direct manager and the training committee on training and cross-training goals
  • Deliver hands-on training or delegate to technical trainers to ensure production staff demonstrate competency before certification
  • Attend and play an integral part in monthly training and development meetings
  • Assess the performance of new employees and those on the weekly priority list
  • Maintain Skills Matrix and KPI boards for visibility and engagement
  • Continually improve training programs (CPO and general) for all production departments based on process or technology changes
  • Ensure thorough initial training during orientation
  • Maintain tracking to ensure properly trained team members carry out tasks
  • Ensure annual recertification for all equipment requiring it
  • Audit technical trainers’ ability to train via mock sessions and competency sign-offs
  • Promote continuous improvement by developing world-class technical trainers
  • Problem-solving with operators and team leads
  • DCU training for any team member
  • Maintain documents for employee career progression

Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations, Business, etc., strongly preferred
  • Printing experience preferred
  • A proven ability to run a manufacturing operation is required
  • Lean manufacturing formal training and/or experience strongly preferred
  • Strong math and measurement skills
  • Computer proficiency for equations, data entry, etc., is required
  • Ability to make rational, logical, fact-driven decisions quickly
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel with formulas and pivot tables)
  • Experience with Radius, SAP, or other Production and Customer Management Systems required
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs., 50 feet frequently; more weight in shorter distances occasionally
  • Proven experience leading, managing, and supervising others
  • Proven track record of successfully designing and implementing a scalable, mass-training system or approach, ideally in a fast-growth, high-volume hiring, or multi-shift manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience using modern training tools and technology (e.g., video-based training, e-learning platforms, digital skills tracking) to accelerate and scale training delivery
  • Experience within a larger international corporation strongly preferred, with a solid understanding of working effectively in a matrix organization
