Directs the development, implementation and coordination of policies, programs and procedures covering the grants and research activities of OLOL. Administers activities related to determining the need for, approval of, obtaining and executing grants and research activities. Oversees the grants and research program for the organization and assists in developing strategic relations with outside entities.

Responsibilities

  1. Grant and Funding Review
    1. Identifies funding opportunities and prepares an annual plan to achieve organizational goals.
    2. Coordinates the preparation of grant applications and research proposals.
    3. Monitors the overall grants and research activity for the institution to ensure timely and effective execution and compliance with funding agencies.
    4. Develop and prepare funding proposal budgets in conjunction with the Financial Specialist.
    5. Negotiate award terms and conditions with federal and non-federal sponsors.
    6. Analyzes and evaluates contract and grant budgets for correct calculation of expenditure categories such as salaries, percent of effort, salary adjustment increases, fringe benefits, indirect costs, materials, and equipment in conjunction with the Financial Specialist.
    7. Manages grant maintenance activities such as progress reports, queries from program officers, etc. and reviews both interim and final reports.
  2. Quality
    1. Develops and recommends policies and procedures relevant to grants and research that are consistent with the mission and the operating goals and objectives of the organization.
    2. Supports the medical staff with clinical research that is consistent with the organization's goals and policies.
    3. Ensures compliance with institutional as well as funding agency requirements and guidelines.
    4. Review proposals for formatting, accuracy, and adherence to funding agency requirements.
    5. Prepares outgoing contracts / subcontracts under the direction of Legal Department.
  3. Collaboration and Partnership
    1. Coordinates post-award management with Principle Investigators.
    2. Serves as the liaison between Director of Finance and Principle Investigator to ensure that grant funds are not overspent and both allowable and appropriate expenses are charged to the grant.
  4. Other Duties as Assigned
    1. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

  • 5 years in a healthcare setting or 3 years in grant and research pursuits
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare operations and legislative and regulatory procedures
