The Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer serves as a senior technical leader responsible for researching, developing, designing, and testing complex electrical equipment, systems, and components for commercial and industrial applications. This role provides technical direction for engineering teams and/or functions as a subject‑matter expert in advanced engineering concepts, innovative design approaches, and industry standards. The position requires independent judgment, creative problem‑solving, and the ability to develop solutions for highly complex engineering challenges.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
• Lead large capital projects as the primary Electrical Engineering authority, including development and management of man‑hour budgets, manpower planning, and project schedules.Â
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of project scope, specifications, and execution procedures.Â
• Oversee engineering and design activities to ensure adherence to client expectations, applicable codes, and industry standards.Â
• Establish project-specific drawing requirements, procedures, and quality controls while ensuring alignment across all engineering disciplines.Â
• Complete electrical surveys and lead development of Design Basis documentation.Â
• Supervise assigned electrical engineers and designers, ensuring effective utilization of skills and resources.Â
• Assign work and provide guidance to team members to optimize project outcomes.Â
• Assist Section and Department Managers with performance evaluations for electrical engineering personnel.Â
• Forecast team manpower requirements to support accurate planning and schedule adherence.Â
• Maintain and continuously expand personal technical and leadership capabilities.Â
RequiredÂ
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.Â
• 12+ years of experience in the design of chemical, petrochemical, or similar industrial facilities.Â
• Demonstrated experience as a Lead Engineer on major projects.Â
• Strong background in electrical engineering fundamentals across HV, MV, and LV power systems.Â
• Proficiency with SKM and/or ETAP power system software.Â
• Working knowledge of NEC and other relevant electrical codes and standards.Â
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).Â
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain one.
