Job Overview:
This is a project-based position. The Shop Pipe Fabricator lays out, positions, aligns and fits together fabricated parts. At least 5 years of documented field experience in chosen craft discipline and have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation and plan and perform work activities alone. Must have Tier 1 Shop Fabrication Experience.
This position does not offer Per Diem.Â

Basic Qualifications:
Must successfully pass the written Pipe Fabrication test and spool reading assessment.
 
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Lays out, positions, aligns and fits together fabricated parts of metal products in shop according to blueprint and layout specifications, preparatory to welding or rivetingÂ
- Plans sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, and allowance for weld shrinkage,machiningand thickness of metalÂ
- Sets up face block,jigsand fixturesÂ
- Locates and marks centerlines and reference points onto floor or face block and transposes them to work piece, using tape, chains, plumb bob, and squaresÂ
- Moves parts into position, manually or by hoist or craneÂ
- Removes high spots and cuts bevels, using hand files, portablegrindersand cutting torch. Straightens warped or bent partsÂ
- Positions or tightens braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps or bolt parts in positions for welding or rivetingÂ
- Responsible forobservingandcomplying withall safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipmentÂ
- Performs other duties and activities asrequired
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawing instructions and documents, plan and perform work activities independently
- Ability to apply shop mathematics to solve problems
- Can plan work and select proper tools
- Has knowledge ofcommonly-usedconcepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the jobÂ
- Works under minimum supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor
