Paramedic (EMT-P) Emergency Department

Work location: Texas Health HEB, 1600 Hospital Parkway in Bedford, TX 76022.

Work hours: PRN (as needed), Day Shift (7a to 7p).聽Possible weekend and holiday requirements. Great growth opportunity.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Fast-Paced, high-volume department averaging 100 - 200 patients/day

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The professional paramedic exhibits understanding of basic human needs and demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient鈥檚 affiliations.

What You Will Do

Provides Safe Patient Care聽Under Physician Delegation:

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Administers IV fluid without additives, saline flush, IV antibiotics, all IV medications excluding controlled and RSI medications. ACLS drugs (including drips) using barcode medication verification (BMV) during medication administrations. All IM and oral medications excluding controlled drugs. Plans the care of the patient

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Completes accurate documentation in the electronic health record

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provides consistent attention to airway, intake, elimination, sleep, rest, mobility and hygiene needs

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Applies antiembolic stockings and sequential compression devices

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Cervical collar management

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 External defibrillation

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Nasal cannula or oxygen mask application

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Oral airway insertion and removal

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ultrasound-guided peripheral IV Access

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Draw blood from ports

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Other duties as assigned by the care team

Here鈥檚 What You Need

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 3 months paramedic experience or completion of a paramedic internship, required. 1 year Paramedic experience in EMS or Fire Dept preferred

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 EMT-P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic required or

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 LP - Licensed Paramedic

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 90 days of hire required and

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required and

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 90 days of hire required and

CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (ED Only), within 60 days of hire required.
