This position ensures laundry is processed efficiently and maintained in a clean and sanitary manner while following facility procedures, infection control standards, and safety requirements. Reporting: This position reports directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor. Key Responsibilities Collect soiled resident clothing, linens, towels, blankets, and other laundry from designated areas Sort laundry according to color, fabric type, level of soiling, and facility procedures Operate washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and according to established procedures Measure and use detergents, disinfectants, and other laundry products according to instructions Wash, dry, fold, and organize resident clothing and facility linens Inspect clothing and linens for stains, damage, or items requiring special handling Handle resident clothing and personal belongings carefully and respectfully Return clean resident clothing and linens to the appropriate resident rooms or designated areas Maintain an adequate supply of clean linens, towels, blankets, and other laundry items Keep the laundry room, equipment, work areas, and storage areas clean, organized, and free from hazards Follow infection control policies and procedures when handling soiled or contaminated laundry Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required Properly handle and dispose of laundry-related waste according to facility procedures Maintain an organized supply of linens and laundry products Promptly report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, lost or damaged resident belongings, or other issues to the Housekeeping Supervisor Treat all residents with dignity and respect when performing duties in resident care areas Be courteous, considerate, and cooperative when communicating with residents, families, facility personnel, and the public Practice infection control and safety procedures of the department and facility React appropriately to emergencies and disaster situations Attend in-service education and staff meetings as required Assist with other housekeeping duties as assigned Perform other duties as assigned What We’re Looking ForEducation and License Requirements High School graduate or equivalent preferred No professional license required Experience No prior experience required Laundry, housekeeping, healthcare, institutional, or long-term care experience preferred Qualifications & Skills Knowledge of basic laundry, cleaning, and disinfecting principles Ability to safely operate washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment Ability to follow written and verbal directions and complete assigned responsibilities Ability to read, speak, and understand English Ability to properly sort, handle, wash, dry, fold, and distribute laundry Ability to safely handle laundry chemicals and cleaning products Strong attention to detail and organization Dependability and punctuality Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information Demonstrates honesty and integrity at all times in the care and use of resident and facility property Demonstrates knowledge of and respect for the rights, dignity, and individuality of each resident Must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance Must have strong communication and customer service skills Must be courteous, considerate, cooperative, and empathetic when communicating with residents, families, responsible parties, staff, and outside resources and agencies Ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, responsible parties, staff, and outside resources and agencies Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information Ability to be easily understood through verbal communication in the English language Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement and volume Physical & Working Conditions Skilled Nursing Facility environment Laundry room environment with exposure to heat, humidity, noise, detergents, disinfectants, and other cleaning products Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday Must be able to stand for extended periods of time Must be able to lift and carry laundry bags, linens, clothing, and supplies Frequent handling of soiled and potentially contaminated laundry Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other conditions associated with a 24-hour skilled care environment Must be able to follow infection control and safety procedures when handling laundry Must be able to respond appropriately to emergencies and disaster situations Exposure to the stresses associated with a 24-hour skilled care environment serving elderly, disabled, and cognitively impaired residents How to Apply Click Apply and complete the online application form.
