This is a first shift position.

The Safety & Compliance Specialist is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day environmental, health, safety, and compliance functions at all ACM locations. Including, but not limited to, increasing safety awareness with all associates, implementation of policies and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all associates, and monitoring the facilities compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and compliance programs.
  • Monitor and report on federal, state, and local regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Daily monitoring to ensure training, audits, and article verification is completed.
  • Support the development of safety-related training materials.
  • Conduct facilities audits to ensure compliance and consistency within all facilities.
  • Audit EHS and ISO policies and procedures annually to confirm adherence with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Prepare reports from audit findings, including recommendations and action plans.
  • Collaborate with facilities’ Process Engineers on plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to ensure all safety requirements are met.
  • Assist in incident investigation and collaborate with plant personnel to determine root cause and recommendations for corrective and preventative actions.
  • Stay up to date on current federal, state, and local regulatory compliance requirements and industry best practices.
  • Assist in managing and auditing all facilities’ Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Oversee facilities’ hazard waste programs and assist in reducing hazardous waste.
  • Monitor monthly completion of Storm Water requirements.
  • Serve as a resource for management and safety coordinators for EHS information.
  • Collaborate with NSC Safety Department on EHS compliance requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Specifications/Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in occupational safety and health or manufactured preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years Manufacturing experience.
  • Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Must have strong organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strong interpersonal relationships with all levels of associates within the organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.

Physical Demand:

  • Associate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift for a full 8-hour day.

Work Environment:

  • 75% formal office setting and 25% manufacturing setting
  • Associate must comply with assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirement in varies areas, including but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety shoes.
  • Associate will have exposure to typical working conditions within the manufacturing environment, including but not limited to, seasonal temperature changes, occasional exposure to exhaust fumes, dirt, dust, debris, and grease, moving forklift equipment, and pinch points on machinery.
