Summary:

The Building Janitor/Maintenance responsibilities include assisting the Building Janitorial Supervisor (BJS) in the maintenance of county facilities and mechanical systems. Duties are performed under general supervision.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Assist in the opening and closing of county buildings.

Perform routine maintenance such as changing light bulbs, HVAC filters, cleaning systems, cleaning coils, and performing routine building maintenance such as door adjustments, locks, painting, caulking, minor plumbing.

Perform daily cleaning of all county buildings including but not limited to: sweeping and mopping the floors, vacuuming carpets, cleaning bathrooms, break rooms, emptying trash cans from offices, emptying recycling bins, and upkeep on the grounds around county buildings. 

Notify BJS when supplies or repairs are needed.

Notify BJS of problems that may arise.

Perform other duties as required when assigned such as lawn care maintenance or other seasonal duties.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or GED; one (1) year experience in janitorial work and light maintenance duties. Must possess a valid diver's license and have a clean driving record.

 

Working relationships:

Contact with Building Janitorial Supervisor, Facilities Maintenance & Construction Supervisor, Janitorial Staff, Building Maintenance Technician, Elected Officials / Department Heads, and the Public.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds.
