We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to lead a full-time self-contained classroom supporting approximately 10 students. The school day runs from 8:30 AM–3:40 PM, providing a consistent schedule and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students with diverse learning and support needs.
The classroom primarily serves students with autism, including several students with more significant support needs. The ideal educator will create a structured, supportive environment while adapting instruction and classroom routines to meet each student's individual needs.
Position Overview:Â
- Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
- Implement positive behavioral and classroom management strategies.
- Participate in IEP meetings and support the development of student goals.
- Collaborate with families, paraprofessionals, and related-service providers.
- Lead and manage a self-contained classroom of approximately 10 students.
- Support students with autism, including those with significant support needs.
- Adapt instruction, activities, and classroom routines to meet individual needs.
- Provide individualized instruction aligned with student IEPs and learning goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field.
- Experience supporting students with autism and complex needs preferred.
- Ability to provide individualized instruction and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment.
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with the appropriate Special Education endorsement.
