Who We Are:


Piggly Wiggly Alabama Distributing Company (PWADC) supplies 250 Piggly Wiggly and other branded supermarkets throughout the southeast with over 20,000 grocery, produce, frozen and other products from our 900,000 sq/ft. warehouse in Bessemer, AL.


Job Summary:


As part of a team of warehouse supervisors, you’ll be responsible for supervising a team of order selectors, forklift drivers and truck loaders tasked with pulling grocery, perishable or frozen orders, palletizing product, and loading semi-tractor truck trailers on deadline for shipment to stores. You’ll typically. work from 6pm to 2:30am on five days of our six-day Sunday through Friday shipping week. The warehouse environment incorporates ambient, refrigerated and frozen sections.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide leadership and direction to your team.

2. Ensure your dock area is fully staffed.

3. Maintain a safe work environment and see that employees are properly trained.

4. Supervise unionized hourly team members to ensure individual quantity and quality standards are met.

5. Using the shift work plan manage your operation to ensure that all shipments are accurate and verified and that trailers are correctly loaded, on-time.

6. Create accurate shipping records.

7. Identify and solve problems with the order process, truck loading, order picking technology, etc.

8. Coordinate and collaborate with other shipping supervisors and managers.

9. Appropriately address employee performance, conduct and attendance issues.
