Department Lead 2nd shift

Bell & Evans is seeking a Production Lead to support daily operations within our poultry processing department. This role is responsible for helping ensure production activities are performed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.

The Production Lead will work closely with team members and supervisors, monitor production activities, assist with employee breaks and job rotations, and help maintain compliance with SQF, food safety, quality, and safety standards.

The ideal candidate is dependable, observant, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment. Previous leadership experience is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine checks throughout the department, focusing on assigned areas based on direction from the supervisor.
• Observe employees to ensure assigned tasks are performed safely, correctly, and according to company procedures.
• Perform periodic inspections of poultry, production processes, and machinery.
• Identify and report safety, quality, production, or equipment concerns to the supervisor.
• Assist with providing employee breaks and rotating team members between assigned jobs as directed.
• Help ensure the department operates in accordance with SQF and company food safety standards.
• Support daily poultry processing operations, which may include working with live or raw poultry and performing tasks such as handling, processing, deboning, cutting, packing, weighing, moving, and inspecting poultry products.
• Follow all company safety, food safety, quality, sanitation, and operational procedures.
• Attend required company training programs and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; or up to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous leadership or team lead experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced poultry processing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential safety, quality, or production issues.
• Ability to follow instructions and company procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and participate in required training.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on position within a poultry processing environment. The successful candidate should be comfortable working around live or raw poultry and in a fast-paced production setting while consistently following food safety, quality, and workplace safety requirements.
