Audio/Video Equipment Manager

About the Role

 

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Audio/Video Equipment Manager to oversee the day-to-day management, maintenance, preparation, and deployment of audio and video equipment for a busy television production studio.

The ideal candidate has hands-on knowledge of professional broadcast and production equipment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with producers, directors, camera operators, audio engineers, and production crews. This role is critical to ensuring that equipment is properly maintained, readily available, and production-ready for studio and field assignments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the studio's inventory of cameras, lenses, microphones, audio consoles, lighting equipment, tripods, monitors, recorders, cables, wireless systems, and related production gear.
  • Prepare and stage equipment for television productions, live broadcasts, interviews, shoots, and special projects.
  • Inspect, test, clean, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment to ensure reliable operation.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, equipment check-out/check-in procedures, and maintenance logs.
  • Coordinate equipment reservations and scheduling to prevent conflicts and ensure production crews have the equipment they need.
  • Diagnose equipment problems and coordinate repairs, servicing, warranties, and vendor support when necessary.
  • Recommend equipment purchases, replacements, upgrades, and rental equipment based on production requirements and budget.
  • Maintain an organized, secure, and efficient equipment storage area.
  • Train production staff and crew members on proper equipment operation, handling, storage, and safety procedures.
  • Support productions on-site when technical equipment expertise is required.
  • Track consumables and accessories, including batteries, media, cables, adapters, and other production supplies.
  • Maintain compliance with studio safety procedures and equipment-handling standards.
  • Assist with evaluating new production technologies and equipment as the studio's needs evolve.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience managing professional audio/video or broadcast production equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of television, broadcast, studio, and/or live-production equipment.
  • Experience with professional cameras, lenses, microphones, wireless audio, lighting, video systems, and related accessories.
  • Excellent organizational and inventory-management skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical equipment and identify when professional repair or service is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment care.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple production requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to safely lift, transport, and set up production equipment.
  • Proficiency with inventory, scheduling, or asset-management software is a plus.

Preferred Experience

 

Experience with broadcast television studios, live production, news production, corporate video, or multi-camera production is highly desirable. Familiarity with SDI, HDMI, Dante/audio-over-IP, wireless RF systems, intercoms, video routing, and modern digital cinema/broadcast cameras is a plus.
