The Assistant Director of Finance is responsible for preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing month-end close procedures, assisting with audit preparations, managing the school鈥檚 tuition management system, supervising accounts payable and processing payroll. This position will combine excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. Essential Functions 路 Manages and assists with daily accounting processes, including cash receiving/depositing, general ledger, and accounts payable, in accordance with generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP). 路 Reconciles all balance sheet general ledger accounts monthly. 路 Prepares timely and complete financial statements and reports. 路 Manages and reconciles billing through FACTS Management Company for student tuition, scholarships, and other miscellaneous billings. 路 Provides information to parents on a routine basis regarding individual accounts, financial obligations to the school, financial policies, tuition refunds and delinquent accounts. 路 Prepare monthly analysis of delinquent accounts receivable and collection status reports to the CFO. 路 Plays an integral role in the annual audit by providing reconciliations, reports and other assistance as needed. 路 Works with the accounting firm that prepares the annual 990 and provides necessary information for completion. 路 Coordinates with the Advancement Office to ensure gifts are posted correctly. 路 Conducts routine meetings with the Advancement Office. 路 Supervises the Business Office Associate and backfills this position, as needed. 路 Prepares, posts, and reconciles all investment activities and related accounting entries. 路 Ensures transfers to and from US Trust separate accounts are timely. 路 Coordinates with the CFO for fixed asset additions, disposals, and depreciation in Blackbaud. 路 Meets with department heads to project future budget needs. 路 Provide monthly analysis of budget to actual variances by department to the CFO. 路 Monitor departmental budgets and amounts held on behalf of others. 路 Enter data into NAIS, NBOA and other surveys as identified prior to deadlines. 路 Ensures accurate and timely distribution of 1099s to required recipients and state and federal agencies. 路 Reviews monthly, quarterly and annual tax reports , including W2s, for accuracy. 路 Remit all retirement contributions timely on a bi-weekly and monthly basis. 路 Process payroll on a monthly and bi-weekly basis. 路 Ensures Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are completed for the Business Office. 路 Other duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired Education and Experience 路 Bachelor's degree in accounting required. 路 8+ years of accounting experience. 路 Non-profit experience required. 路 3+ years supervisory experience required. 路 Strong financial analysis skills. 路 Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. 路 Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel. 路 Experience with Blackbaud and FACTS software, preferred.
