Senior Tax Manager

Prosperity Partners ("Prosperity") is a Chicago-headquartered professional services firm offering best-in-class tax, accounting, transaction advisory and personal finance services to dynamic businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and family offices throughout the United States. With offices throughout the United States and private equity-backing, Prosperity is seeking an energetic, experienced Senior Tax Manager to support our growing tax practice. The candidate must have a strong work ethic, exceptional leadership qualities and at least ten years' public accounting experience.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Minimum of ten years’ experience at a regional, national or multi-national accounting firm;
  • Lead complex tax engagements from planning through delivery, including the preparation and review of sophisticated business, individual, trust, estate, and multi-state tax returns;
  • Advise clients on complex tax matters, including estate planning, acquisitions, mergers, restructurings, entity formations, and other strategic transactions;
  • Research, analyze, and communicate solutions for federal, state, and local tax issues;
  • Partner with office leadership in transitioning and expanding key client relationships while maintaining continuity of service and trusted advisor status;
  • Develop and mentor tax professionals while providing technical guidance;
  • Draft technical memoranda, client communications, and correspondence with tax authorities;
  • Champion the adoption of AI and technology solutions that enhance team productivity, streamline processes, and elevate client service delivery;
  • Actively identify growth opportunities within existing client relationships, participate in new business development efforts, and contribute to office revenue growth initiatives;
  • Support the office's long-term succession planning objectives by serving as a future leadership resource and helping maintain continuity of key client relationships;
  • The role offers a defined pathway toward office leadership and partner level opportunities for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:  

 

  • Minimum of ten years’ experience at a regional, national or multi-national accounting firm;
  • Minimum ten years’ experience in a regional, national, or multinational public accounting firm;
  • CPA certification required; Master's in Taxation (MST) or similar advanced degree preferred;
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited four-year university;
  • Significant experience advising clients on estates, trusts, acquisitions, business restructurings, entity planning, and other advanced tax matters;
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local taxation, including flow-through entities, high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and multi-state tax issues;
  • Proven ability to serve as a trusted advisor to business owners, executives, high-net-worth individuals, and family groups;
  • Strong leadership skills with a history of mentoring and developing tax professionals;
  • Experience identifying and developing new business opportunities;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts clearly to clients and colleagues;
  • Understanding of firm operations, including budgeting, billing, and practice management;
  • Demonstrated ability to step into complex client situations, build trust quickly, and provide confident technical leadership;
  • Availability to work in the Bloomfield Hills office on a hybrid schedule.
