CNC Programmer/Operator

Sign D’ Sign is seeking an experienced CNC Operator / Programmer to join our production team in Bluffton, South Carolina.

This is a hands-on production position responsible for programming, setting up, and operating our CNC routing equipment to produce custom architectural and commercial signage. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, comfortable working from digital production files and drawings, and capable of taking a project from a production file through finished CNC components.

Our CNC department works with a wide variety of materials including aluminum, ACM, acrylic, HDU, PVC, polycarbonate, wood, and other sign-industry substrates.

• Previous CNC router or CNC machining experience
• Experience programming CNC equipment, not simply operating pre-programmed jobs
• Experience with CAD/CAM, CNC routing, nesting, and toolpath software
• Strong understanding of measurements, fractions, decimals, and basic shop math
• Ability to read production drawings and specifications
• Experience selecting tooling and adjusting feeds and speeds based on material
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Ability to work accurately with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and quality control
• Ability to safely lift and maneuver sheet materials and fabricated components

Experience in the sign industry, architectural fabrication, cabinet manufacturing, woodworking, plastics fabrication, metal fabrication, or similar custom manufacturing environment is highly desirable.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the CNC department rather than simply operating a machine.

The right person understands that a successful CNC job starts before the machine begins cutting. They review the drawing, understand the material, determine the proper tooling and cutting strategy, verify dimensions, consider material utilization, and inspect the finished product before sending it to the next department.
