Summary/Purpose

Responsible for overseeing the repair and maintenance of the machinery, equipment, building, physical structures, and plumbing and electrical systems in a high volume industrial atmosphere by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Ensure all local, state, and federal regulations concerning safety and environmental measures are followed during maintenance activity and maintained for all production and related equipment.
  • Guide maintenance associates in proper troubleshooting techniques, repair methods and quality of work to ensure production equipment and facilities are maintained to acceptable standards.
  • Maintain a training plan for associates of all skill levels in effort to continuously improve response to production machine downtime.
  • Effectively execute planned projects, improvements, modifications and preventive maintenance schedules to be completed with minimal overtime and reasonable material costs.
  • Continually monitor and expand the effectiveness of the preventive maintenance system.
  • Maintain maintenance performance boards showing maintenance downtime vs. target, safety concerns and actions, individual shop downtime reports, preventive maintenance schedules and performance, and maintenance improvement items.
  • Monitor the usage of machine spare parts, ensure defective parts are handled correctly (for repair or disposal), and follow-up on lack of spare parts for proper registration and/or ordering.
  • Promptly report excessive downtime issues to management.
  • Schedules and estimates man-hour requirements for completion of assigned tasks.
  • Interprets and enforces company policies, rules and procedures to direct reports.
  • Support 5-S, Kaizen Team and Koyo Production System, TS16949 and ISO 14001efforts throughout the plant.
  • Directs, coordinates and supervises the day to day work assignments of Maintenance Associates
  • Maintains time and attendance records, manpower, etc. for Maintenance Department
  • Must adapt to changes in shifts, working hours, and sudden priority changes in scheduled/unscheduled work according to the company’s requirements or customer demand.
  • Being receptive to call in work hours – day, night, weekends, and holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct reports: Maintenance associates –Hourly

 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Should have either mechanical or electrical experience in both repair and installation of equipment and a good knowledge of equipment.
  • Ability to train and assist others
  • Should have a good computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be able to effective and efficiently plan labor and material to execute projects and/or maintenance repair work.

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in science or Industrial Engineering from a four-year college or university; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or Associate’s degree in science or Industrial Engineering from a two-year college, and five to seven years related experience and/or training
