Job DetailsJob Location: Boca Grande, FL 33921 Job Title: Overnight Security Officer Reports to:  Front Office Manager Vice President of Operations Department/Group: Operations Effective Date: August 24, 2026 Location: On Site Travel Required: None Position Type: Non-Exempt On Call: No Job Purpose: The Overnight Security Officer is primarily responsible for maintaining the safety and security of guests, employees, and The Gasparilla Inn property during overnight hours. This position requires regular overnight shifts and may also require evening shifts based on operational needs. The Security Officer patrols all areas of the property, monitors Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), perimeter alarms, duress alarms, and fire and life-safety systems, and remains alert for unusual, suspicious, illegal, or potentially dangerous activity. The position also assists guests as needed, including providing room access, and responds appropriately to security, safety, and emergency situations. The Security Officer is expected to be familiar with and consistently follow The Gasparilla Inn's standards, policies, and procedures while providing professional and courteous service to guests and employees. Job Duties: • Exhibits The Gasparilla Inn's People Charter. • Maintains thorough knowledge of the property. • Follows safety and security policies and procedures at all times. • Patrols property interiors, grounds, and back-of-house areas, including hallways, parking lots, stairwells, lobbies, bars, and restaurants. • Ensures guest room doors are secured and designated public access doors are locked when required. • Ensures property security alarms and CCTV cameras are operational and monitors CCTV for suspicious activity. • Reports suspicious activity to management and, when appropriate, local authorities. • Maintains clear and concise logs of overnight occurrences, incidents, and suspicious activity. • Responds to guest requests promptly and courteously during the overnight shift. • Responds to accidents and emergencies; contacts EMS and administers first aid/CPR when trained and required. • Notifies appropriate individuals in the event of accidents, attacks, emergencies, or other significant incidents. • Addresses loiterers, trespassers, or other unwelcome persons and escorts them from the property when necessary while minimizing disruption to guests and operations. • Conducts routine physical hazard inspections and reports safety concerns promptly. • Maintains the safety and security of guests, employees, and property at all times. • Adheres to established key-control policies and procedures. • Assists in the on-the-job training of new security staff as assigned. • Answers telephone calls using proper telephone etiquette and standard greetings. • Provides a clear handoff to the morning shift supervisor, including the completed overnight checklist and any significant incidents or outstanding concerns. • Attends departmental meetings and training as scheduled. • Responds to emergency and safety situations in accordance with established procedures. • Performs other duties as assigned by management. Work Schedule: This position is primarily an overnight security position and requires regular availability to work overnight shifts. The employee may also be scheduled for evening shifts based on business and operational needs. Availability to work weekends and holidays may be required. Working Conditions and Assignments: This position does require you to be sitting, standing, walking and driving a golf cart. The position requires bending, twisting, kneeling pushing, pulling, walking, standing, and safely driving a gold cart. There also may be an occasional degree of physical exertion while transporting equipment or guest luggage frequently of which will be approximately 60 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position will require an active driver license in order to be able to safely drive a golf cart and may have frequent exposure to outside weather conditions throughout the day. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Preferred: • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a similar/related field. • Five years of experience as a security officer. • CPR/First Aid training. • FEMA certifications.
