This position assists with the daily supervision and operation of the department, provides leadership to Security personnel, and ensures established safety, security, and access-control procedures are consistently followed. In the absence of the Director of Security, the Lieutenant assumes day-to-day operational leadership of the department within established policies and delegated authority. Responsibilities: Department Leadership: Serve as second-in-command and assist the Director of Security with the daily supervision and operation of the Security Department. Personnel Supervision: Direct, coach, train, and support Security personnel while reinforcing departmental policies, procedures, post orders, and performance expectations. Security Operations: Oversee daily patrol, gate, access-control, traffic, parking, and other assigned Security operations to ensure appropriate coverage and effectiveness. Member & Community Relations: Maintain a professional and visible presence while interacting with members, residents, guests, employees, vendors, and outside agencies. Incident & Emergency Response: Provide leadership during security incidents, accidents, medical emergencies, disturbances, and other emergency situations. Investigations & Reporting: Conduct or assist with preliminary investigations and ensure incident reports, activity logs, and related documentation are accurate, complete, and timely. Law Enforcement Coordination: Coordinate appropriately with PBSO, Fire Rescue, EMS, and other public safety agencies and promptly notify the Director of Security of significant incidents or agency responses. Performance & Conduct: Monitor employee performance, attendance, appearance, and conduct; provide appropriate coaching and escalate discipline or significant performance concerns to the Director of Security. Safety & Risk Awareness: Assist with identifying and reporting potential fire, safety, security, property, and operational risks throughout Boca Woods. Equipment & Systems: Maintain accountability for departmental equipment and properly operate Security vehicles, radios, access-control systems, surveillance systems, and other required equipment. Acting Department Leadership: In the Director’s absence, make appropriate operational decisions necessary to maintain safe and effective Security operations within established authority. Chain of Command: Maintain and reinforce the established chain of command and promptly escalate matters requiring the Director’s or Club management’s review or authorization. Requirements: Must possess an active Florida Class “D” Unarmed Security Officer License. Must be at least 21 years of age. Minimum of two years of security or related experience required; country club, military, law enforcement, or emergency response experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid Florida Driver’s License and ability to meet the Club’s motor vehicle insurance requirements. Must obtain and maintain current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications. Basic computer proficiency required, including Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with ABDI or similar access-control software preferred. Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain calm under pressure, and respond appropriately to emergency situations. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow established policies and procedures. Must be able to safely operate Club vehicles, golf carts, radios, and other assigned security equipment. Required visual abilities include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, airborne particles, and proximity to moving mechanical equipment. The work environment may also involve elevated noise levels. Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
