The Hunt School of Nursing (HSON) invites applications for an open-rank faculty position, with rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment. The position is campus-based and includes online teaching responsibilities, primarily within the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs.


Responsibilities:

The faculty member will hold full faculty status within the Hunt School of Nursing and will be entitled to all associated rights and responsibilities. Primary responsibilities include teaching and coordinating nursing courses; participating in curriculum development and revision to ensure compliance with program, accreditation, and university standards; identifying and supporting resource needs that promote high-quality education; and contributing to the effective operation of the School and University through clear communication and collaboration.

Additional responsibilities include academic advising, mentoring students, and providing service to the University, the Hunt School of Nursing, the nursing profession, and the broader community. The successful candidate will collaborate with graduate nursing students in the development of practica and scholarly projects. Opportunities to teach in other Hunt School of Nursing programs may also be required based on qualifications and program needs.

The Hunt School of Nursing is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and offers a range of programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Accelerated BSN (ABSN) pre-licensure programs, as well as an online RN-BSN completion program. The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program offers concentrations in Nursing Education, Nursing Administration, and a dual Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Business Administration (MSN/MBA). The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program includes concentrations in Post-Masters, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.


Required Credentials:

路 Doctoral degree


Required Qualifications:

路 Current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina, a compact state, or be eligible for licensure in North Carolina.

路 Minimum of two years employment in direct client care as a Registered Nurse.

路 Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

路 Experience teaching at the graduate level

路 Experience in the program accreditation process

路 Preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. Applicants without this preparation may complete the required coursework within 3 years from the time of employment.
