Position Summary

The role of Business Development Associate requires a motivated individual who can recognize and create opportunities/leads for potential new business. The Business Development Associate will be aligned and work closely with the Business Development Manager and senior leadership as our champion for prospecting, lead generation, lead qualification and pipeline creation efforts. You will be active on social media and other channels and be active in various industry-specific groups. Ideally, you'll have experience with a CRM system and prospecting tools such as LinkedIn.

Ideal candidates will be self-starters, accountable, driven, ethical, hard-working, personable and persistent, and you work well independently as well as with a team.

Compensation

Compensation: $60,000 to $70,000 USD base salary, plus commission. Commission is structured as $500 per meeting held and $250 per event attendee generated, with a target of approximately 6 meetings and 3 event attendees per month.

Ramp: This role is structured as fast ramp, fast evaluate. Performance expectations are designed to be clear within the first 90 days.

Candidate Profile

Early career or 1 to 2 years of experience in Business Development or as an SDR, with a strong outbound and high activity orientation. Comfortable operating in a fast paced, quota driven environment. Ideal backgrounds include SaaS BDRs or Services BDRs, with a strong tendency toward phone first outreach, along with organized, sequence driven prospecting through LinkedIn and AI tools.


Position Responsibilities

Technical

  • Achieve assigned appointment and revenue targets
  • Prospecting and building organic pipeline within designated targets
  • Nurturing relationships with targeted prospects via various communications channels 'including social media (LinkedIn) and email
  • Leading prospect follow-up, arranging calls/meetings with prospects and managing multiple business development engagements
  • Researching prospects to identify targets for outbound activities
  • Provide support for marketing events
  • Participate in strategic development of territory and accounts
  • Work closely with OneStream sales teams to develop pipelines in various markets
  • View new learning opportunities enthusiastically and gather knowledge to improve skills and capabilities
  • Maintain CRM data quality
  • Must be willing to travel and work in various business locations or remotely as applicable

Communication

  • Be able to clearly articulate the value of Ascend Partners and what differentiates our firm from competitors
  • Understand the OneStream platform, it’s value and be able to articulate that to clients and prospects
  • Posses a high level of written communication skills and can relay information clearly via email
  • Outgoing personality with the ability to communicate well on the phone to both internal and external parties
  • Ability to network internally, externally, and with key OneStream contacts

Client

  • Ability to network internally, externally, and with key OneStream contacts
  • Ability to convert prospects into clients and maintain those relationships
  • Has a strong client first mentality with a willingness to go above and beyond
  • Posses the ability to build trust with clients and prospects and be their go to point of contact
  • Assists in the planning of corporate client events while helping drive attendance

Quality

  • Ensure accuracy of all communication with prospects, clients, and partners
  • Maintain accurate and up to date data within the CRM
  • Be a valued contributor on all ad-hoc projects and initiatives
  • Be open to constructive criticism designed to improve your skills

Work Environment

  • Moderate to high pressure when working through tasks with quick turnaround times
  • Steady pace of work but can be fast paced depending on workload
  • High autonomy but required to communicate with senior resources when expectations are unclear


Position Outcomes/Objectives and Standards of Performance

1.Ensures EPM/CPM Solutions are developed and implemented successfully.

Application implementation for all assigned projects is completed on schedule and meets the agreed upon expectations as outlined to the client. Application optimization is encouraged through follow up conversations with the client and senior Ascend stakeholders. Solution development resulted in streamlining of financial consolidation, reporting, and planning, budget and forecasting as confirmed by Client feedback.


2. Successfully resolves simple to moderate functional and technical issues during and after implementation. Always communicates moderate to complex functional and technical issues to a senior resource and properly coordinates implementation of agreed solution(s).

Implementation and Post-implementation support is provided on simple to moderate problems to resolve client complaints in a timely manner or troubleshoot systems to produce expected outcome with minimal downtime.

Properly identifies and communicates moderate to complex issues on a timely basis to senior Project Delivery team resources and Project Managers as applicable. Gathers information on agreed upon solution and effectively coordinates plan to develop, build, and test solution.

3.Effectively manages relationships with clients during complex system implementations.

Feedback from clients indicate overall satisfaction with communication from the Delivery Consultant. Escalated issues are dealt with in a timely and effective manner. Support is provided both virtually and on-site as required. Minimal complaints are raised regarding the quality of interactions with the Delivery Consultant.

4.Demonstrates a high sense of commitment to the role with a strong work ethic.

Takes accountability when errors are made and takes corrective action to rectify the situation. Viewed as a reliable and collaborative team member. Acts as a back up resource when required and takes the initiative to provide solutions to department challenges to increase operational efficiencies.

5.Demonstrates behaviors aligned with the organization’s values.

Feedback from Manager, team members, and external customers confirms that the individual consistently demonstrates actions aligned with Ascend’s values.

6.Willingly works under varying levels of supervision with a drive to improve understanding and performance.

Actively listens to direction and constructive feedback as new tasks are introduced, collaboratively engages in the resolution process, and demonstrates commitment to improvement through own actions. Able to gain self-sufficiency over time graduating to an Intermediate or Senior Delivery Consultant that will take on appropriate tasks with minimal supervision.

7.Commits to ongoing professional development.

The Delivery Consultant is pursuing completion of the standard OneStream training courses.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or bachelor's degree in fields such as (but not limited to) Accounting, Business, Finance, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience
  • One to three years of successful business experience
  • Outgoing personality
  • Sales experience helpful, but not necessary
  • Financial or Accounting background helpful
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • CRM experience helpful, but not necessary
