Overview

The relationship we build with towns and municipalities is one of the most important distinctions between Powertown and any other developer. Your job is to take this precious relationship and maintain it.

That means going the extra mile to build trust within our communities, understanding where our local political opportunities lie, and helping shape the local narrative around Powertown. Functionally, you will build relationships with local governments across dozens of municipalities, creating a repeatable yet human-centric system that keeps Powertown closely connected with municipal decision makers at scale. You will also represent Powertown in conversations across state policy, fire safety, chambers of commerce, local government, and distributed energy, building the relationships and understanding that determine where and how Powertown can operate.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with municipal leaders across dozens of towns and cities, ensuring Powertown remains closely connected with local decision makers as we scale

• Construct a repeatable yet human-centric system for managing municipal relationships without losing the personality and trust that make them meaningful

• Go the extra mile within the communities where we operate, identifying opportunities to deepen trust and connect Powertown deployments with local resilience and economic development

Must-have qualifications

• 2–6 years in community engagement, government affairs, public policy, economic development, planning, or stakeholder relations

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to make technical or unfamiliar projects feel clear, grounded, and human

• Experience navigating local government and approval processes, including permitting, zoning, public hearings, civic design, or community concerns

Nice-to-have qualifications

• Working directly with mayors, town managers, economic development officials, planners, fire departments, chambers of commerce, or other local institutions in New England

• Grant writing and successful receipt of grants
