Job Summary

The RESPOND Lab at MGH (https://mesk.mgh.harvard.edu/) is seeking candidates with a Ph.D. in biostatistics, applied mathematics, computer science, or a related quantitative field for a two-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow position. This position involves applying established methods from network science to pediatric health access and outcome data. Working with a multi-disciplinary team of health services researchers, including experts in pediatric emergency medicine and network science, the successful candidate will apply techniques from network science to pediatric emergency care data, and develop expertise in project administration and applications of advanced analytic methods to health services.

Candidates should have a doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field. Strong computational skills and expertise in R is required. Experience in Python and network science are desired but is not required. Start date is negotiable. 


 

Qualifications

With supervision and guidance, responsibilities of the Postdoctoral Research Fellow will include: 
o Performing  independent analytic tasks 
o Designing and implements modifications of research protocols 
o Troubleshooting problems and instructing colleagues in statistical and network science techniques 
o Synthesizing and interprets results 
o Performing advanced analysis using various software programs and statistical techniques 
o Maintaining organized and detailed records  
o Presentation of results at lab meetings and national conferences 
o Preparation and submission of research manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals 
o Assisting with preparation of grant applications 
o Other duties as assigned 
 
A successful candidate will: 
o Work independently under general direction of the Principal Investigator 

o Be motivated, meticulous, organized, and detail-oriented 
o Demonstrate initiative and enthusiasm for learning new techniques 
o Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
o Possess strong technical abilities and computer science skills 
o Possess exceptional written and oral communication skills as demonstrated by publications and presentation 
o Possess the ability to make independent and effective decisions in a timely fashion 
o Possess competence in research techniques and methodologies 
o Have excellent interpersonal skills 
o Be a team player who works well with other lab members 

Must have experience with:

Data science or health services research and electronic data management systems. MS Office products. Statistical software (R)

Must have:

Doctoral degree (PhD) in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field Strong computational skills and expertise in R is required Cover letter with 2 references Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals.

Preferred:

Experience in Python and network science are desired but is not required

The salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $71,750.
